My Prince..

I really find the tale cute. It was not because it's a children story but it's a story for the grown-ups also. It was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

The story was about a prince who came down to earth to sojourn. He lives somewhere in the small planets that revolves in the system a little closer to our planet. His expedition made him realized what grown-ups are and learned something about them. A little prince who finds grown-ups as STRANGE, ODD, VERY ODD, and CERTAINLY ABSOLUTELY EXTRA-ORDINARY.

One of the best line I love in the story was "It's only with ones heart one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye."

A tale that tells how lucky to have a chum and to be a part of that friendship. A tale that also tells what life is really all about and lastly, teaching you to love the stars twinkling up above. :)

My PropoSaL..

an
EYE
for an EYE

Title: An analysis on the interpretation of student behavior during a class through an eye contact.

Communication is a necessity for a human being to express his or her emotions. It is where an individual communicate within itself or to several other individuals. A message is being sent and then later interpreted by the reciever. Though, communication does not only convey verbal messages. There are also messages that are being sent without being capable of using it in words or utterring it. These messages are called
nonverbal messages.

Nonverbal is defined as communication without words. It includes the facial expressions such as raising ones eyebrows, body movements and gestures like waving a hand. Though, not all these messages are precise and certain. Communication is so vague that sometimes messages that are being delivered are interpreted differently.

One of the major communication act I find very interesting to study is the eye contact. The use of visual sense is very dominant to people and therefore it is important in communicating. A single look could give lots of interpretation. It could indicate a range of emotions and could be as a sign of attraction, hostility or interest. Eyes could be so evasive and shifty.

Eyes as referred as the window of the soul, it is the major factor in interpreting unspoken words. It could also indicate a positive and negative realtionships. For instance: people tend to have a longer eye contacts to whom they trust rather than those whom they don't.

Scope and Limitation

However, to scope up my proposal I want to discuss more about the eye contact behavior of students during a class.

In a class, several of the students doesn't particulary concentrate in listening to the discussions. It may not be obviously seen but through eye contacts it is being determined. Students who had eye contacts to their lecturers indicates that he or she is open to communication. This attitude can be best observe when a lecturer ask a question in the class, those who knew the answer would look right into his or her eyes while those who don't would automatically avoid to have an eye contact.

A teacher could have his or her eye contact with each of the students in the classroom. The lecturer could easily determine those who are attentive, bored and aloof. However, the way a teacher looks his or her students could also be a signal of concern, indifference or annoyed.

Objectives

The goals I want to achieved after doing this research are as follows:

  • to be able to know how eye contacts determine students behavior.
  • to know what are the reasons why students avoid eye contacs.
  • to be able to know how can an eye contact help students in their academe.

In gathering my datas, I'll conduct an interview to the students, specifically COMA101 class. The interview would be about their perceptions on eye contacts like asking them of what would be the best explanation for it. Some of the information would be gathered from the books, articles and net sources.
